Liposuction Legs – different methods

Legs liposuction is a surgical intervention that dramatically reduces unaesthetic deposits of fat from certain areas. The fat deposits on women’s legs are genetically predetermined and are quite resistant to diet and exercise. Many women are self-conscious about their ankles, legs and thighs.  This problem may be solving through legs liposuction.

There are two techniques for legs liposuction. The classical and the most frequently used is that surgery that involves a tube, called the cannula. This tube is inserted beneath the skin and it is used to break up and extract the excessive fat from certain areas. This intervention is not painful and generally is not dangerous, especially if the patient is completely and correctly evaluated before the surgery. However, like any other surgical intervention, there are some risks associated. You could have an allergic reaction to one of the drugs used during the intervention and there is the risk of an infection. Other risks are related to the outcome of the surgery. In some cases, patients are not satisfied with the new shape of the legs or with the aspect of the skin.

During the intervention, the surgeon doesn’t have full visibility over the fatty areas of the leg. Because the cannula is beneath the skin, it’s not always easy to see the right amount of fat was extracted or not from a specific region. Sometimes, after the legs liposuction, (generally a few weeks after) the patients start noticing wavy skin, lumps or bumps on the operated areas. In order to reduce those risks, choose a medical facility and a surgeon with a good record.

In the last few years, another surgical technique for developed. You can have now laser legs liposuction. The surgeons who practice this techniques are saying that if offer better results. During a laser leg liposuction, a small laser fiber is introduced beneath the skin. Through heat, this laser fiber melts the fatty deposits. Only after all the fat is melted the surgeon starts to extract it. This way, the surgeon has a better control over the fatty areas and over the quantity of fat that needs to be removed. Also, the skin will look smoother after a laser leg liposuction then after the classic cannula intervention.

Before deciding which legs liposuction method you’ll use, talk to more surgeons and ask them about the advantages and disadvantages of cannula legs liposuction versus laser legs liposuction. Remember you will pay for this intervention from your own pocket and you want the best results. You can achieve those results only if you do a little research before the actual legs liposuction.

A hidden trap of legs liposuction is to encourage the surgeon to remove all the fat from fatty areas. The human body is designed to function with a layer of fatty cells beneath the skin. Aggressive legs liposuction will result in injured blood vessels. Also, if you start to gain weight, the areas with residual fat, where you didn’t have any intervention, will increase in size, while the areas from where all the fat was removed will remain the same. The effect will be completely unaesthetic.
